Katja Munck (born January 22, 1979 in Großburgwedel ) is a former German national basketball player .

Career

Bundesliga

Munck started her basketball career in 1990 at TS Großburgwedel . In 1996 she moved to the 2nd women's basketball league for TK Hannover and in 1998 to league competitor SpVgg Halchter / Linden with whom she immediately won the championship and was promoted to the 1st women's basketball league.

In 2001 Munck moved to BC Marburg and won both the German Championship and the German Cup with this in the 2002/2003 season . In the following season she was the best thrower of her team with 18.2 points per game. After passing his business administration exam, Munck moved to TSV Wasserburg for the 2004/05 season and won the German Cup for the second time. A few weeks later they made the second double of their career perfect with their team. In Wasserburg, too, she was the best thrower in her team with 18 points per game.

In 2005 she tore a cruciate ligament in her left knee. In spring 2006 she made her comeback but a short time later she injured her knee again and could only celebrate winning the German championship and the German cup competition in 2006 with her team from the bench.

After she had extended her contract with Wasserburg by one year in June 2006, she suddenly switched to Italian champion Famila Wuber Schio three weeks before the start of the 2006/2007 season . She made her debut against Mondeville / France in the highest European club competition (Fiba Euroleague). In her second game she scored 19 points against Vilnius / Lithuania. During the season she won the Italian Supercup 2006 with Schio.

National team

On August 11, 2000 Munck made his national team debut against Slovakia . After successfully qualifying with her team for the 2005 European Championship, she reached 11th place at the European Championships in Turkey. Munck scored 294 points in 56 games for the German national basketball team. During the EM preparatory game against Poland in August 2007, Katja Munck injured her knee again. Then she had to end her career.
