Katrin Mietzner

Katrin Mietzner , née Katrin Krüger (born April 10, 1959 in Groß Schönebeck ) is a former German handball player .

Krüger , who played for ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt / Oder , achieved her greatest successes with the GDR national team . She won gold at the 1978 World Cup and bronze at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . Ten years later, the 260-time national player won bronze again at the World Cup.

Katrin Krüger was the top scorer in the GDR league in 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983. In 1979 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and in 1984 in silver.

In 1981 and 1982 she was voted handball woman of the year .

She is married to the former European rowing champion Jochen Mietzner . Her daughter Franziska Mietzner (* 1988) is also a handball player.
