Life and artistic career

In 1979, Katrin Süss was first inspired by the works of Eberhard Göschel . From 1983 to 1986 she studied painting and graphics at the HfBK Dresden . From 1986 to 1990 she studied graphic design in Berlin with a diploma. At the same time she was a student of Agathe Böttger, Christa Schuhmann, Wulff Sailer, Wolfgang Leber , Manfred Schubert, Manfred Paul as well as Katrin Hinz and Claus Weidensdorfer .

The first circular objects made of corrugated cardboard and Japanese paper were created in 1994 and were first shown in an exhibition in the Museum Schloss Klippenstein in 2004 . Since then, exhibitions have followed at home and abroad. From 1996 to 1998 Süss studied art therapy at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Art Therapy with Frances Dupierry, director and performer from South Africa.

In addition to numerous international awards in 1998, Graphis New York counted Süss among the most important poster designers for her posters. From 2000 to 2008 Süss printed her etchings in the Obergrabenpresse Dresden with Jochen Lorenz . Since then she has also been teaching the basics of design, communication, media and typography in Dresden, Berlin and Salzburg as a lecturer. In 2007, inspired by her teaching activities as a typographer, she wrote her first etchings on CDs and in 2008 on records.

After a scholarship that took Süss to New York City in 2009, the entire New York cycle was created in collaboration with the Salomon Arts Gallery, NYC. She has been working with the Dresden graphics workshop since 2010. It was there in 2011 that the first color record prints were made, with which she was invited to an exhibition in the cultural town hall in Dresden in the same year and which are very popular with collectors due to their high quality and low circulation.

In 2011, Süss conceived and organized for the first time EU-funded workshops on the subject of symbolism, for which artists from 17 nations came together in Dresden and Berlin.
