Mary Kathryn Freels (* 8. April 1990 in Homewood , Alabama as Mary Kathryn Frierson ) is an American football player .
Career
society
During her studies at Auburn University, Freels played for the college team there, the Auburn Tigers, and played for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the 2010 W League season . In early 2012 she was drafted by WPS participant Atlanta Beat , but the entire league was dissolved before the start of the season and Freels instead joined the WPSL elite participant Western New York Flash under coach Aaran Lines .
In February 2013 she was committed to the so-called supplemental draft for the newly founded NWSL in the first round in fifth position by Sky Blue FC . Freels made her league debut on April 14, 2013 in a 1-0 home win over Western New York Flash , and she scored her first goal in the NWSL on June 16 against the Boston Breakers . After the 2015 season, she left Sky Blue FC.
National team
Freels was a member of the US U-20 and U-23 national teams until 2009 .
