The Katzenstein is a 1349 m above sea level. A. high summit east of the Traunstein in the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps . It is connected to the Traunstein via the Hohe Scharte and continues east to the Steineck . Laudachsee lies at the foot of the Katzenstein .
Coming from Laudachsee, climb the Hohe Scharte and turn left to the summit of the Katzenstein on a steep, rocky path. From the summit there is a fantastic view down to the Laudachsee, the entire Dead Mountains can be admired, and the Traunstein and Grünberg complete the panoramic view. With good visibility you can also see far into the plains.
