The Kauschkahorn is 2903  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Panargenkamm in the Venediger group . The summit is in the north-west of East Tyrol in the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen .

etymology

The Kauschkahorn was so named in 1959 in honor of the German-Bohemian mountaineer Rudolf Kauschka .

location

The Kauschkahorn is a little pronounced summit in the southeast of the Panargenkamm on the connecting ridge between the Weißen Beil ( 2766  m above sea level ) in the southeast and the Seespitze ( 3021  m above sea level ) in the northwest. On the ridge between Kauschkahorn and the White Beil, there is also the Schober ( 2765  m above sea level ), a hill in front of the south. In the southwest of the Kauschkahorn lies the Oberseitsee , which drains into the Schwarzachtal to the south . In the north are the Milltz pits , which drop into the Trojeralm valley to the north .

Promotion opportunities

The easiest way to climb the Kauschkahorn is the same as the normal route to the nearby Seespitze. To do this, follow the marked path to the Seespitzhütte from the Jägerstube in St. Jakob Innerberg. In the area of the Seespitzhütte you leave the marked path and cross to the northwest over Almböden in the direction of the Schober ( 2765  m above sea level ) and then climb up past it to the left. The final ascent takes place on the ridge over blocks and finally over a short slab step to the summit ( II ). Alternatively, it is also possible to cross the ridge from the Seespitze, whereby the sharp southeast ridge of the Seespitze has to be overcome with a slender rock tower and then the block ridge to the Kauschkahorn is conquered by a ridge notch ( in places IV ).
