history

The Kavaliershaus at Marienstraße 4 in Weißenfels was built in 1730 by Johann Christoph Schütze . The construction of the building was preceded by a city fire in 1715, which also destroyed the town hall and St. Marien Church as well as Marienstraße. After the reconstruction of the town hall and the church, work was also carried out on Marienstraße. The building was built for the merchant and trader Johann Michael Heyne. Just like the cavalier house at number 2 , this one also has a two-story bay window , over which it is decorated with a relief of a lion eating a Medusa head . The building was renovated from 2012 to 2013 and has been used by the city administration as part of the technical town hall since then.
