Corporate structure

Kazchrome employs over 19,000 people in geological exploration, mining and processing of minerals, and the manufacture of metallurgical products. The four locations are in the Aqtöbe , Pavlodar and Karagandy areas and are as follows:

  • The mining and processing plant Donskoi ( ) near Chromtau in the Aqtöbe area has existed since 1938 and is one of the world's largest open-cast mines in which chromite is extracted. The deposit extends over a length of 22 kilometers and has a width of approximately seven kilometers. In terms of the reserves available here, Donskoi is the second largest chromite deposit in the world.
  • The Aqtöbe ( ) plant in Aqtöbe was founded in 1943 and is used for the processing of chromite and the production of ferroalloys . Mainly ferrochrome and ferro silicon are produced here. Around 740,000 tons of ferro-alloys are produced here every year. The plant includes two melting plants, a plant for processing slag and other ancillary plants.
  • The Aqsu ( ) plant in Aqsu has existed since 1968 and is also used for the processing of chromite and the production of ferroalloys. More than a million tons of it are produced in the plant every year, the majority of which is exported abroad. The plant consists of four melting plants with a total of 26 melting furnaces and a plant for processing slag.
  • The mining operation Kazmarganets in Karaganda was founded in 2004 and employs around 600 people. Activities focus on the production of manganese concentrate , which is used in the metallurgical industry. The manganese ore is mined in the Tur open pit mine, which was developed in 1997 and has an annual production capacity of around 480,000 tons.
