Career

Higashi made his debut in the ski jumping world cup on December 16, 1989 . When jumping from the normal hill in Sapporo , he landed on the 56th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , he jumped from the normal hill to 5th place. On March 17, 1991 he reached the Holmenkollbakken in Oslo with the 7th place, the best individual result in a World Cup competition in his career. He finished the 1990/91 season in 34th place in the overall World Cup standings. Higashi moved to the newly created Ski Jumping Continental Cup for the 1991/92 season , in which he remained until 1999. Every year, however, he was nominated for the World Cup jumping in Sapporo and was able to win World Cup points several times. Higashi was also part of the squad for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , but did not start there in any competition. In 1999 Higashi ended his active ski jumping career.

Kazuhiro Higashi is the oldest of the "three ski jumping Higashi brothers": his twin brother Akihiro and his younger brother Akira are or were also ski jumpers.
