Kees Schulten

Cornelis Maria "Kees" Schulten (short: CM Schulten ; * 1933 ) is a Dutch military historian .

Schulten studied at the Rijksuniversiteit Leiden and received his doctorate in 1966. From 1974 to 1989 he was head of the military history department of the Dutch Army and from 1990 to 1995 director of the Reich Institute for War Documentation (Rijkinstituut voor Oorlogsdocumentatie, RIOD; successor: NIOD Instituut voor Oorlogs-, Holocaust- en Genocidestudies ) in Amsterdam.

He was Secretary General from 1980 to 1990 and President of the Commission Internationale d'Histoire Militaire from 1990 to 2000 . He then became honorary president of the commission. He was also involved in the Waterloo Committee.

Schulten published mainly on Dutch military history and the resistance in World War II .
