Luc de Vos (historian)

Luc de Vos (* 1946 in Ostend ) is a Belgian officer and historian .

Luc de Vos took part in the student protests at the University of Leuven in 1968. He received his doctorate in contemporary history and made it to the position of colonel in the Belgian armed forces . He then worked for decades as a professor of military history at the École Royale Militaire in Brussels and for a long time was the only university professor of his subject in Belgium. He was also an associate professor for international relations at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven . In 2012 he retired. De Vos, who is also present in the media, published several military history works.

From 2000 to 2010 he was President of the Commission Internationale d'Histoire Militaire , after which he became Honorary President.
