Keith McWatters

Keith McWatters (born September 7, 1931 in Maryborough , † April 26, 1995 in Liverpool ) was an Australian Romance studies and literary scholar who worked in England as a university teacher.

Life

KG McWatters studied from 1948 to 1952 at the University of Queensland in Brisbane and was then a high school teacher in Queensland and New South Wales . In 1957 he went to the University of Grenoble as an assistant for English and received his doctorate there in 1961 on Stendhal et le roman anglais (published by T. Stendhal, lecteur des romanciers anglais , Lausanne 1968). Then he was a lecturer at the University of Queensland. In 1964 he went to Great Britain and was a senior lecturer in French at the Universities of Leicester (1964–1965) and Glasgow (1965–1974). From 1974 until his death he was Professor of French at the University of Liverpool , from 1979 on the James Barrow Chair of French (Dean 1983-1986). His grave is in Lochranza .
