Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch (born August 12, 1885 in Melbourne , † October 4, 1952 in Langwarrin ) was an Australian journalist and entrepreneur.

Life

Murdoch, son of theologian Patrick John Murdoch , was a war correspondent with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) on Gallipoli in 1915 . In 1933 he was made a knight ( Knight Bachelor ).

Murdoch was Director-General of Information in 1940, responsible for press censorship across Australia. Its function has been compared in part to that of Joseph Goebbels.

He is the father of Rupert Murdoch .
