Keith and Donna Band was an American band formed by the Grateful Dead members Keith and Donna Godchaux .

When the Deads took a break in the mid-seventies, the musicians were busy with individual projects. The Godchaux couple's project was the Keith and Donna Band .

Under this name the two performed a number of gigs from August to December 1975 with the participation of various guest musicians. The most famous clubs in San Francisco were Great American Music Hall , The Orphanage and the Winterland Arena music theater .

Due to the fact that Donna Godchaux was only responsible for the vocals and her husband was also responsible for the keyboard, they had to rely on other musicians for the live performances. The dead musicians Jerry García and Bill Kreutzmann were also present at some of the performances . Other guest musicians included Merl Saunders , Bernard Purdie and Matt Kelly . Keith Brian Godchaux's brother also performed.

In the same year the band released their first album. Although started with great expectations, the album Keith & Donna sold poorly, so it was only released on LP and not re-released on CD. The image of their son Zion Rock Godchaux was used as the cover of the album. Jerry García drew the other pictures.

After a few contributions to other albums, the couple returned to their main role in Grateful Dead and broke up their own band.
