Kelly Murphy (born October 20, 1989 in Joliet , Illinois ) is an American volleyball player . She became world champion in 2014 and won the Olympic bronze medal in 2016.

Career

Murphy began her career at her native Joliet Catholic High School. During her studies, she played on the Florida Gators team at the University of Florida from 2008 to 2011 . From 2013 to 2018, the striker was part of the US national team , with whom she 2013 the Panamerican Cup and the NORCECA Championships , 2014 in Italy, the World Cup , 2015 World Grand Prix , 2016 at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro the bronze medal and won the Nations League in 2018 .

Since 2012 Murphy has also been active in various foreign clubs. She played in Puerto Rico with the Mets de Guaynabo and Vaqueras de Bayamón , in Italy with Imoco Volley Conegliano , in Japan with Ageo Medics, in China with Henan Huawei and since 2018 with Shanghai Dunlop .

Murphy has been named "Best Attacker" and "Best Server" several times.
