Kemal Malovčić (born August 6, 1946 in Okreč near Sanski Most , FVR Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian turbo-folk singer.

resume

Malovčić's career began in 1968 at the age of 22. At that time he released his first single Oko Sane ( An der Sana ), with which he refers to the Sana (river) on which his hometown Sanski Most is located.

At the beginning of his career he received great support from his younger brother Džemal Malovčić (* 1947 in Sanski Most , Bosnia and Herzegovina , † 1992 in Vienna ), also a turbo-folk singer, who wrote the music and the lyrics for him. But the greatest success and the climax of his career was the collaboration with the then Yugoslav band Južni Vetar (South Wind) which lasted six years (1985-1991). In 1985 he released his best known album Okreće se kolo sreće ( The Wheel of Fortune is spinning ), which sold more than 600,000 times.

During the Bosnian War Malovčić turned his back on Južni Vetar , saying that he no longer wanted to belong to the band that was the center of the turbo-folk movement in Serbia . During the war in his home country Bosnia and Herzegovina , Malovčić campaigned for humanitarian aid for his country and gave many humanitarian concerts.

Life

Malovčić lives in Vienna , is married to Fadila (birth name Ćoralić) and has a daughter, the actress and singer Edita Malovčić , and three sons Džanan, Kenan and Adin.
