Kenji Hövels (born July 9, 1993 in Berlin ) is a former German handball player . He played in the back center and was under contract with TuS N-Lübbecke .

Career

Kenji Hövels started playing handball at the age of 6 in the handball department of the BFC Preussen . After primary school, he attended the Werner Seelenbinder School, which is now known as the School and Competitive Sports Center Berlin , until he graduated from high school .

In 2006 he moved to SG Spandau / Füchse Berlin. With this team he became German B youth champion in 2010 and German A youth champion in 2011 and 2012 under Bob Hanning .

In 2011 he was appointed to the Füchse Berlin CL squad for the Champions League game against Veszprem.

After the A-youth he played in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons with the Bundesliga reserve of Füchse Berlin in the 3rd handball league.

For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Empor Rostock in the 2nd handball Bundesliga and signed an annual contract there. He extended this by one year in the 2015/16 season under coach Aaron Ziercke .

The TuS N-Lübbecke signed Hövels for the 2015/16 season for 2 years. After the 2018/19 season, Hövels ended his career and became assistant coach at Füchsen Berlin and selection coach at the Handball Association Berlin . For the 2020/21 season he took over the 2nd team at Füchse Berlin.
