Kenneth Hollon

Kenneth Lynn Hollon (born November 26, 1909 in Brooklyn , † September 30, 1974 in New York City ) was an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone ) of the swing era .

Live and act

Hollon worked in the New York jazz scene from the late 1930s a. a. with Slim & Slam ("Laughin 'in Rhythm"), Jack Teagarden , Frankie Newton and Billie Holiday (" Strange Fruit ", 1939). Hollon accompanied the singer in the early phase of her career and later also during her appearances a. a. at the New York Café Society on titles like "My Fate Is in Your Hands" and Honeysuckle Rose . In the early 1940s he played with Louis Jordan & His Tympany Five and Buddy Johnson ("A Boogie Woogie's Mother-in-Law"); 1946 with Kenny Watts and His Jumpin 'Buddies. Further recordings were not made until 1970, when Hollon was involved in the soundtrack of the cartoon Fritz the Cat . In the field of jazz he was involved in 20 recording sessions between 1938 and 1970.
