Kerrea Kuche Gilbert (born February 28, 1987 in Hammersmith , London ) is an English football player . The defender Gilbert, whose first name is pronounced “Kerry” , is usually used on the right in the back four, but can also play as a central defender.
Career
Gilbert has been under contract with Arsenal since 2003, and at the beginning of the 2005/06 season he was promoted to the professional squad. To give the English game practice, he was loaned to Cardiff City for the 2006/07 season. He was then loaned to Southend United at the beginning of the 2007/08 season and returned to Arsenal in January 2008 after only five games and personal differences with coach Steve Tilson .
For another year Gilbert moved on July 10, 2008 again on loan to Leicester City , which had just been relegated to the English third division. There he succeeded on March 3, 2009 in a 1-1 draw against Stockport County his first competitive game goal.
On December 13, 2010 Gilbert signed a contract with the US football franchise the Portland Timbers .
