Kersten Kruger

Kersten Krüger (born July 10, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German historian .

The son of a doctor graduated from high school in Göttingen in 1959 and studied history, English and Scandinavian studies from 1959 to 1968 at the universities of Göttingen , Cologne , Munich , Kiel , Hamburg and Copenhagen . In 1967 he passed the first state examination. In 1968 he received his doctorate under Gerhard Oestreich at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on the income and expenses of the Danish rentmasters from 1588 to 1628. From 1968 to 1978 he worked as an assistant and lecturer at the University of Marburg . In 1978 he completed his habilitation in Marburg. From 1978 to 1986, Krüger held substitute professorships at the Universities of Kassel , Gießen , Hamburg, Münster and Oldenburg . From 1986 to 1993 he was Professor of Scandinavian History at the University of Hamburg . From 1993 until his retirement in 2004 he taught as a professor for modern history at the University of Rostock . Even after his retirement he continued to teach at the University of Rostock. From 2004 to 2006 he represented the professorship for modern history there.

Krüger's main research interests are the history of the early modern period (16th to 18th centuries) and the history of the University of Rostock. For the Encyclopedia of German History , he wrote a presentation on the constitution of the state . Krüger became a member of the Commission internationale pour l'Histoire des Assemblées d'État in 1974 , in 1978 in the Historical Commission for Hesse in Marburg, in 1984 in the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Comparative Urban History in Münster and in 1988 in the Det Kongelige Danske Selskab for Fædrelandets Historie in Copenhagen.
