Kerstin Reckenthäler (born June 19, 1982 ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player .

Career

As a player

Kerstin Reckenthäler played for DJK / MJC Trier from the age of 16 . At first she played for the women's team in the 2nd Bundesliga . In 2000 the left-hander rose to the Bundesliga with the DJK / MJC Trier . In the 2002/03 season she won the German championship.

In April 2003, Reckenthäler had an operation on her knee, with cartilage transplanted and her knock-leg position corrected. After the outside player started training again in January 2004, she was no longer able to play painlessly. In 2005 she ended her career at the age of 23. By the time she retired, she played 18 international matches for the German national team .

As a trainer

Reckenthäler completed an apprenticeship for a B coach license after her career ended. She then worked as a trainer in Rhineland-Palatinate in the state selection and at the DHB base in Trier. In January 2011 she became a junior coach at Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Under her leadership, the A-youth won the German championship in 2013 and 2014 and the second women's team rose to the third division . After Reckenthäler took a break in the 2014/15 season, she returned to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In 2016 and 2017, the A-youth took second place at the German championships under their leadership. In May 2017, she also successfully completed the German A trainer license. Under her leadership, Leverkusen won the German A youth championship in 2018. Then Reckenthäler was no longer active as a coach in the youth field and became an assistant coach of the Bundesliga team. She resigned from this position in August 2018. At the end of October 2018, she took over the third division HSV Solingen-Gräfrath . At the end of April 2019, HSV Solingen-Gräfrath, under the leadership of Kerstin Reckenthäler, was able to perfect the West German championship title and thus achieve promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.
