Ketama is a Spanish flamenco band in the style of "Nuevo Flamenco". The band was formed in Madrid in the early 1980s . The founding members were: José Soto Sorderita (* 1961 in Jerez de la Frontera ), Ray Heredia (* 1963; † July 17, 1991 in Madrid) and Juan Carmona Amaya El Camborio (* 1960 in Granada ). After a while, two of the members left the band. Most recently the band consisted of the singer and percussionist Antonio Carmona Amaya (* 1965 in Granada), his brother, the guitarist Juan Carmona and their cousin, the guitarist José Miguel Carmona (called Josemi; * 1971 in Madrid). Since the band broke up in 2004, in the 20th year of their existence, they went more or less separate ways and each of the musicians pursued their own career. At a press conference in November 2018, Ketama announced the release of a new album and the Spain tour No estamos locos , which took place in spring 2019.

The style of music can best be described as a mixture of flamenco music and mainstream pop, which differs from the many other styles. There are also influences from jazz music. The band was discovered by Mario Pacheco , who released their music on his Nuevos Medios label.
