Kevin Dutton

Kevin Dutton (* 1967 in London ) is a British psychologist and author. He is a professor at the University of Oxford with a research focus on psychopathy .

Life

Kevin Dutton is a professor of Experimental Psychology at Oxford University. Previously he was a research fellow at the Faraday Institute there and at St Edmund's College at the University of Cambridge , as well as visiting professor for Public Engagement with Psychological Science at the University of Essex .

In the 2011 cross-sectional The Great British Psychopath Survey , Dutton determined the level of psychopathy within the British population. The highest scores were achieved by CEOs , lawyers and media professionals on television and radio.

Dutton has been a popular science writer since 2012.

In an online test in 2013 with around 700,000 participants, according to Dutton et al. a. that people with the least psychopathic tendencies preferred cats and kittens to all other pets, while those with the strongest psychopathic traits preferred fish as pets.

In 2014, together with Andy McNab, a fighter from a special unit who was diagnosed as psychopathic, he published a book that describes the acquisition of moderate psychopathic traits as helpful for adapting to a society that is becoming more psychopathic.
