Kevin Jan Smit (born April 6, 1991 in Oldenburg ) is a German basketball player . He is used in the position of playmaker and has been under contract with the second division club Gladiators Trier since 2015 .

career

Smit's father Holger played for a long time in the men's team of the Oldenburg TB and Smit the Younger began his basketball career at OTB. He went through the youth department and was in the regional league squad from 2009 and also in the Bundesliga squad of EWE Baskets Oldenburg from 2011 . Smit made his debut in the Bundesliga on October 8, 2011 against BBC Bayreuth .

Although he did not make the breakthrough in Oldenburg's Bundesliga team in the following years, he was a leading player at OTB, with whom he was champion of the first Regionalliga Nord in 2012 and in 2014 under a changed name (Baskets Akademie Weser-Ems / Oldenburger TB), 2nd Bundesliga champion ProB was. After winning the title, Smit moved to SC Rasta Vechta in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA for the 2014/15 season . After a year in Vechta, he decided to change within the league and joined the Gladiators Trier in 2015 .
