Kgotsong is a city in the South African province of Free State (Free State). It is located in the municipality of Nala in the Lejweleputswa district and was founded as a township near the city of Bothaville .

Kgotsong had 41,878 inhabitants in 2011 according to the census. 77% of them said Sesotho was their first language. The neighboring Bothaville, to which the traffic routes are tailored, has only about a tenth of the population.

history

Kgotsong was founded as a township settlement for black people. The name comes from Sesotho and means "place of peace".

traffic

The place is on the R59 trunk road , which connects Kgotsong with Bothaville and Hoopstad in the southwest and Viljoenskroon in the northeast. The Vierfontein – Bothaville – Bultfontein freight line passes Kgotsong without a train station.
