Kham Souk

Kham Suk or franking Kham Souk (full title Brhat Chao Yudhi Dharmadhana Negara Champasakti ; * 1838 in Champasak , † July 28, 1900 in Bassak ) was ruler of the Laotian Empire Champasak between 1862 and 1900 .

Kham Suk was the fourth son of Prince Huy (r. 1827-1840) of Champasak, who administered the empire as a vassal of the King of Siam . Kham Suk was trained at the Royal Page Corps in Bangkok . In 1862 he was appointed by King Rama V (Mongkut, ruled 1851–1868) of Siam as Prince Governor of Champasak ( Chao Mueang Nakhon Champasak ). In 1863 he received the personal title Chao Yudhi Dharmadhana Negara Champasakti . He then returned to Champasak, built a palace and rebuilt the old capital by February 1874.

Kham Suk was married several times, so u. a. with Princess ( Chao Heuane ) Keavakama (Kheukama) and Mom Kutmayi na Champasakti (Keutmai). He died on July 28, 1900 in Bassak, leaving three sons and a daughter:

  1. Prince ( Sadet Chao ) Anuya ( Nuy ), who succeeded his father
  2. Prince ( Sadet Chao ) Binga (Beng), later governor of Lampang
  3. Prince ( Sadet Chao ) Oui ( Sak Prasert ) who had fifteen children
  1. Princess ( Sadet Chao Heuane Nhing ) Sangavanakama (Sangvankham), married her half-brother Prince Sak Prasert

He was succeeded by his son Nuy (ruled 1900 to 1945).
