| Rivier (dry river) | ||
The Khan ( Khoekhoegowab for Eland ) is a rivier , ie an episodic dry river, in the Erongo region in Namibia . It seldom has water, and then only occasionally during the rainy seasons .
The Khan rises near the village of Otjisemba northwest of Okahandja , runs from there west to Usakos and further southwest through the Namib . It flows into the Swakop just before Swakopmund . Along with the Okondeka, it is considered to be the main tributary of the Swakop- Omaruru estuary.
The underground water of the Khan is used by the mining company Rössing Uranium Limited for the Rössing mine of the same name .
Numerous bridges cross the Khan , including the 160-meter-long Husab Bridge of the Husab opencast mine , which opened in 2014 .
