Kiço Ngjela

Kiço Ngjela (born December 25, 1917 in Sheper , Gjirokastra County , † June 16, 2002 ) was an Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania .

biography

In 1945 he became a member of the Constituent Assembly ( Asamblea Kushtetuese ) and then in 1950 a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ). He was a representative for the Tirana district until October 10, 1975. Later he was temporarily vice-chairman of the State Planning Commission.

On February 6, 1948, Ngjela succeeded Ramadan Çitaku as Minister of Finance in the government of Prime Minister Enver Hoxha . On November 28, 1948, however, Abdyl Këllezi succeeded him in this office.

As the successor to Gogo Nushi , he was later Minister of Commerce. In addition, he was a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PPSh. As trade minister in the mid- 1960s , in an editorial in the journal Ekonomia Popullore, he saw increasing the export quota as a government mandate of great importance.

Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu later appointed him foreign trade minister in his government on January 1, 1966, of which he was a member until his dismissal on September 1, 1975.

In September 1975 he was arrested by the Sigurimi secret police along with other leading economic politicians such as members of the Politburo of the PPSh Këllezi and Koço Theodhosi as part of an internal party " wave of purges" .

His son Spartak Kiço Ngjela , born in 1948 , who was also held as a political prisoner between 1975 and 1991 after his father's arrest, also became a politician after the collapse of communism and was a member of the Albanian parliament and Minister of Justice in 1997.
