The FC Kickers Obertshausen is a football club in the South Hessian town Obertshausen southeast of Offenbach am Main . The club, founded in 1910, had its heyday in the 1960s.

history

For a first big splash the Black and Whites ensured in May 1939, when them a 1 in the Association Cup on home ground: 0 victory in the local derby against the great namesake Kickers Offenbach succeeded, the one just surprising 3: 2 away win over Borussia Fulda followed .

In the final and decisive round, in order to qualify for the Tschammer Cup at Gau level , the Kickers had to deal with Eintracht Frankfurt . After 40 minutes, the outsider was 2-0 ahead, but in the end it was only enough to make it 2-2. This made another game necessary, in which this time the neighbor from Frankfurt am Main was able to prevail with 4: 1, although the guest from Obertshausen had also taken the lead in this encounter.

In 1960, the Kickers rose to the then third-class football Hessen league , which they finished in seventh place in their debut season 1960/61 . In the following season 1961/62 they finished only 14th place and were relegated again. But they managed to immediately rise again and in the following season 1963/64 with the sixth place in the third highest division the best placement in the club's history.

Membership in the Hessen League lasted until relegation at the end of the 1968/69 season . After that, the Kickers played in the Hessen group league for four years until they were relegated from this in 1973. In 1994 the black and whites slipped into the district league A for the first time and are currently (2016/17 season) represented in the district league, which is mathematically equivalent to a seventh league.

Well-known players and coaches

The professional players Jan Zimmermann , Josip Landeka , Giuliano Modica and Christian Pospischil all emerged from the Kickers' junior division.

From 2005 to 2010 the black and whites were trained by Lars Schmidt , who was under contract with Karlsruher SC for ten years during his professional career .
