Giuliano Franco Modica Malagnini (born March 12, 1991 in Córdoba ) is an Argentine football player . The center- back is under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 from the 2019/20 season .
Career
Modica was born in a poor family in Córdoba, Argentina , and has both Argentine and Italian citizenship . In 2002, the then 12-year-old emigrated to Germany with his mother , where they settled in Offenbach am Main in Hesse . In his youth, Modica played for Kickers Obertshausen and SG Rosenhöhe.
His first appearance in the A-Juniors Bundesliga was with Kickers Offenbach in the 2008/09 season . He then moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern II in the Regionalliga from 2010 to 2012 , and later to Eintracht Frankfurt II . After his return to Kickers Offenbach in 2013, he played 62 regional league games with the club, scored seven goals and was champion of the Regionalliga Südwest in the 2014/15 season .
Modica played a total of 130 regional league games in which he scored 15 goals. He played three times in the DFB Cup for Kickers Offenbach in 2014/15 .
For the 2015/16 season Giuliano Modica moved free of charge from Kickers Offenbach to third division club Dynamo Dresden . He received a contract until June 2017. He played his first third division game for Dynamo on matchday one in a 4-1 win against VfB Stuttgart II .
On July 1, 2017, Modica moved back to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He signed a contract until 2020. Due to several injuries, however, he only made five appearances in the league and one in the DFB Cup.
For the 2018/19 season he moved to third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden , with whom he made promotion to the second division.
The 1. FSV Mainz 05 obligated the Argentine with his teammates Simon Brandstetter for season 2019/20 for its second team .
