Simon Brandstetter (born May 2, 1990 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Simon Brandstetter started playing football in his hometown at TSV Oberensingen and FV 09 Nürtingen . At the age of 14 he also played for VfB Stuttgart for a year before joining the Stuttgarter Kickers via VfL Kirchheim . There he spent the U-17 and U-19 time and played, among other things, in the A-Jugend-Bundesliga and belonged to the Württemberg selection.

After his youth, the center forward moved to SC Freiburg . There he was able to establish himself in the second team in the Regionalliga Süd and scored 18 goals in 28 games in his second year. He was also appointed to the U-20 national team. In the 2011/12 season he then struggled with injuries and was out for a long time. Although he was registered for the Bundesliga team in Breisgau, he was not used there.

In 2012, Karlsruher SC showed interest and the relegated second division loaned Simon Brandstetter for a year at the change of season. During the summer break, however, he fell ill with Pfeiffer's glandular fever and was not used for several months afterwards. It was not until November that he was rebuilt in the league team and on December 1, 2012, he made his debut in the third division in the final minutes against 1. FC Heidenheim at a score of 5: 2. In the second half of the season he was used several times, but could not earn a regular place in the successful, well-rehearsed team.

For the 2013/14 season Brandstetter moved to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , where he was then regularly used. In the 2014/15 season he and his team had opportunities for promotion over a long period of time before a significant slump occurred in the second half of the season. In summer 2015 he moved to MSV Duisburg , who had been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . After relegation in 2015/16 , he rose again to the second division with the MSV as third division champions in 2017 .

During the 2017/18 winter break, Brandstetter moved to third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden and signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2019. In his competitive debut for Wiesbaden on January 20, 2018 (21st match day), he scored for the new club for the first time in a 5-1 win against VfL Osnabrück . After the 2018/19 season , he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team.

For the 2019/20 season he joined the second team of Mainz 05 .
