history

The building, built in 1924–26, was originally a printing and publishing house ( Berglandbuch , Salzburger Volksblatt newspaper ), in a prime location in the growing suburb between Neustadt and the main train station. It is the triangular block Rainerstraße, St.-Julien-Straße, Elisabethstraße (address Rainerstraße 19-23). Inside it forms a courtyard.

The house was planned and built by Wunibald Deininger . In 1981 Deininger was posthumously honored with the Architecture Prize of the State of Salzburg (2nd award after 1975).

After the publishing house was closed, the building was redesigned by Wilhelm Holzbauer from 1987 to 1989 , whereby its landmarked, striking front was retained.

The building now houses, among other things, a small shopping center and is used above with large office space. After the renovation, the premises also housed various municipal departments for a while.
