Kilmartin Castle is the ruin of a tower house in Kilmartin in the Scottish administrative division Argyll and Bute .

history

The priest of Kilmartin had the building with a Z-shaped floor plan built as a residence at the end of the 16th century. It later belonged to the Campbell clan .

description

The building is oriented in north-south direction. There are round towers at the northeast and southwest corners of the three-story main house. A small stair tower is built on the west facade. The quarry stone walls are provided with numerous loopholes .

The ruin no longer had a roof, but was restored in the 1990s.
