Kilmonaster Middle (including the neighboring Gortnagole) between the rivers Deel and Finn , near Castlefinn and the border with Northern Ireland (near Lifford and Strabane ) in the east of County Donegal , with its formerly twelve megalithic complexes , seven of which are closely adjacent, is one of the five large “ Passage Tomb cemeterys” in Ireland .

The Kilmonaster Middle cemetery, of which only two complexes are better preserved, is dominated by the eastern cairn about 3.0 meters high and 21.0 meters in diameter in a hill fort on Croaghan Hill.

Appendix A

The width of the cross chamber is about 4 meters. A capstone is in situ on the north chamber and a relocated capstone is adjacent to the eastern end. There are two portal stones at the west end. The cairn is about 20 m in diameter and some of its large quartz curbs are visible.

Appendix D

Annex D ( position ) is 140 m southwest of Appendix A and is a small chamber grave ( English chambered tomb ) with a cover stone, which originally lay on four orthostats. The records from the mid-19th century state that a large amount of human bones were found here.
