Kim Appleby (born August 28, 1961 in Stockton-on-Tees ) is a British singer.

biography

Together with her sister Melanie Appleby (* July 11, 1966 - January 18, 1990) she formed the duo Mel & Kim in the 1980s . Between autumn 1986 and spring 1988 they had four top 10 hits in the UK, one of which even reached the top.

After her sister's untimely death at the age of only 23 from complications from cancer , Kim Appleby went on solo. She recorded songs that had been planned for the next album together by Mel & Kim and had been written by both, alone and released in late 1990 the debut album named after her. It was supported by her friend Craig Logan, the former bassist of Bros . The first single Don't Worry was an international top 10 hit and reached number 2 on the UK charts in November 1990. Three more releases also achieved good chart positions and the album was also quite successful internationally.

In the fall of 1993 the album Breakaway followed , which again produced three chart singles, but which did not reach high placements. The album did not hit the charts at all. As a result, there were no more publications from her for a good decade.

In the meantime, Appleby had a show on an Internet radio station and appeared as an actress on an episode of a TV series.

In 2004 she was heard on DJ Tonka's album 84 . Three years later, the download single High appeared again as a separate release. In 2010 she teamed up with the Cologne house musician Levthand and brought out two singles with him.
