Kim Jin-kyu (born February 16, 1985 in Andong ) is a former South Korean soccer player .

Career

After finishing school, Kim immediately went to the K-League with the Chunnam Dragons , where he made a name for himself as a central defender and successful distance shooter in two first division years . So at the age of 20 he got the opportunity to move to Japan and he joined Júbilo Iwata . After two years he returned to the Dragons, but moved to FC Seoul in 2007 . In 2010 he won the South Korean championship with his team. At the beginning of 2011, he moved to Dalian Haichang in China, but after six months he already joined the Japanese first division club Ventforet Kofu . There he could not assert himself and returned to FC Seoul in early 2012, where he was able to win the championship again in 2012 . In 2016 he moved to Thailand. After two more positions, he ended his career at the end of 2017.

National team

As a junior national player, Kim Jin-kyu qualified very early on with his performance. In 2003 and 2005 he played for South Korea at the respective youth world championships and in 2004 he already had his first appearance for the senior national team . He was part of the team at the Asian Cup and qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and was part of South Korea's World Cup squad . He was also used in two of his country's three appearances in the tournament.
