Kimball is a small town in Brule County in the US state of South Dakota with 745 residents.
history
Kimball was first mentioned as Stake 48 on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad Lines. In 1880 farmers first claimed the land around Stake 48. Until 1883, Kimball was organized as a village. The city was named after the inspector JW Kimball.
geography
Kimball is located in central South Dakota, west of Lake Sharpe and has 750 inhabitants on an area of 8.0 km². Kimball is also on Interstate 90 , the longest highway in the United States .
