Kinder Happy Hippo is a confectionery from the Ferrero company that came onto the market in 1995 and was named after the "Happy Hippos" figures by the designer André Roche that were hidden in the surprise eggs for years .

The original Happy Hippo Snack is no longer available and has been replaced by Happy-Hippo Crocky, which was later renamed Happy-Hippo cacao. This no longer contains hazelnut cream, but a light and a dark cream and is no longer coated with chocolate.

In 2002 Ferrero invested 70 million euros in a production line especially for Happy Hippo.

Inside was a cream of hazelnuts surrounded by a chocolate-covered waffle. The whole thing has the shape of a hippopotamus , hence the name "Happy Hippo" ( in German : happy hippopotamus).

The physiological calorific value is approx. 2,350  kJ / 100  g (562  kcal / 100  g ). It also contains protein , carbohydrates , fat, vitamin B12 , vitamin B1 , vitamin E , calcium and magnesium .

The physiological calorific value is approx. 2,380  kJ / 100  g (570  kcal / 100  g ). It consists of 50.7% carbohydrates , mainly sugar , and 38% fat.

Ferrero used the Happy Hippo figures repeatedly in numerous other products over the years. In 2002, the Happy Hippos had their appearance in a Lucasfilm- approved parody of the science fiction trilogy " Star Wars " by Hollywood producer George Lucas . This children's surprise special series was named - in reference to the original movie title " The Empire Strikes Back " - "The Hipperium goes crazy" . In 2009/2010 the series "Happy Hippo Talent Show" appeared in various Ferrero products across Europe. At the end of 2007 the video game "Happy Hippos on a World Tour" was released by 10Tacle for PC ( Windows ) and Nintendo DS .
