The children's mail is an educational toy , similar to the shop that was first marketed around 1890.

Furnishing

"Forms" of a children's mail

The contemporary taste is reflected in the packaging as well as in the items belonging to the game. Depending on the manufacturer and the version of the “Children's Post”, it includes stamps in different colors and images, an ink pad and a “postmark”. Additional forms for different letter and goods deliveries are available in addition to telegram forms and payment receipts for payment transactions. In a higher price category there are accessories such as a switch , which can either be made of cardboard, wood or, from the middle of the 20th century, plastic and rounded off with a “letter box”. Depending on the technical development, the equipment was supplemented by a "letter scale" and a "telephone". A "post cap" rounds off the game.

Germany

Children's postage stamps (around 1910–1920s)

For the game Kinderpost there were imitations of the Germania stamp , the lettering here was Kinderpost . It should be emphasized that it is documented for 1904 that in the German Reich real postage stamps with a children's postmark were already used from this game .

One of the early publishers who started selling this game in 1907 and who later produced it themselves was ABC Verlag Georg Reulein . During the Second World War , an edition was produced that indicated Nuremberg as the place of publication.

A philatelic absurdity was the delivery of a postcard franked with a children's postage stamp to the Federal Chancellery in Bonn on October 1, 1963.
