The Kinderwelt is a day care center in Darmstadt .
Architecture and history
In 1951, the Viennese architect Franz Schuster presented his design for a kindergarten with after- school care center and crèche in the “Master Buildings” section of the “People and Space” exhibition . In the years 1953 and 1955/56 the structure was realized in a different form at a different location in two construction phases together with the Darmstadt building department. Schuster's new design retained the original threefold structure. The typical elements of the time such as protruding flat roofs , filigree supports and large, divided windows have also been retained. The single-storey structure consists of masonry with a flat roof and a plastered facade .
Monument protection
For architectural and historical reasons, the building, which is counted among the "Darmstadt master buildings", is a cultural monument .
