King is a Canadian crime series that premiered on Showcase on April 17, 2011 . Amy Price-Francis plays Police Commissioner Jessica King , who is promoted to head of the Major Crimes Task Force in Toronto after her predecessor let himself be carried away by a public derailment on television. The series was first broadcast in German in October 2012 on VOX .

The attractive cop Jessica King is a detective sergeant and has been on the homicide squad for eight years. That is why she changes to the special unit “Major Crimes Task Force” in Toronto, which specializes in taking on the lead in crisis situations such as murder, rape, robbery, gang wars or serial offenders. Here she meets the impulsive Detective Sergeant Derek Spears, with whom she complements well.

Production and broadcast

The first season of the series was produced towards the end of 2010 and broadcast from April 17 to June 5, 2011 on Showcase . Shortly thereafter, a second season with 13 episodes was ordered, which were produced from September 2011. This season showed Showcase from February 29, 2012. In early June 2012, the series was discontinued.
- United States
The small cable broadcaster ReelzChannel has secured the broadcasting rights to the series for the United States . The series should be shown there from July 5, 2013.
- Germany
In Germany, the VOX broadcaster broadcast the two seasons produced from October 17, 2012.

On March 6, 2012, Entertainment One released the first season in Canada on DVD. The German DVD and Blu-ray publication was published by Studiocanal on December 6, 2012.
