Ciccoritti is a descendant of Italian immigrants. His parents are named Joseph and Patricia, née Teoli. He grew up in Toronto and wanted to be a painter . In high school , he made a Super 8 short film with a friend . He gained experience in dozens other short films and then attended York University . After a year he left her, wrote the screenplay, produced and directed his first independent film Psycho Girls (1985). The horror comedy was shot for $ 15,000 in nine days. Canon Films bought it ten times as much.
For his directorial achievements on television Ciccoritti won a total of eight Gemini Awards , namely in 1994, 1996, twice in 1997, in autumn 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2003, he was nominated in 1995, 2000 and 2001. He received Canadian Comedy Awards in 2001 and 2002 for directing the television series Made in Canada , shared with others. The Directors Guild of Canada bestowed DGC Craft Awards on him , namely in 2003 in two categories for the biographical miniseries Trudeau about former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and in 2005 for the drama Lives of the Saints with Sophia Loren as the leading actress. Nominations for this Canadian award were in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, Ciccoritti was nominated for the feature film Blood at the Genie Awards in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay .
