The King River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland . It is located in the Far North Queensland region .

geography

River course

The river has its source in the Atherton Tablelands , which are part of the Great Dividing Range , about 160 km west of Cooktown . From there it first flows west to the confluence of Apple Tree Creek and then turns its course to the southwest. At King Junction it flows into the Palmer River .
