Anime adaptation

In 2012, Studio Pierrot produced an anime adaptation of the manga for television. The lead writer was Naruhisa Arakawa and directed by Jun Kamiya . Atsuo Tobe , Masatoshi Hakanda and Noriko Otake were employed as character designers and Junichi Higashi was the artistic director . The first 38 episodes were broadcast in Japan on June 4, 2012 by BS Premium and NHK . A second season by director Akira Iwanaga with 39 episodes was shown from June 8, 2013 to March 2, 2014.
