Quarry of the Naxos marble "Alexander" near Kinidaros and Moni

In the vicinity of Kinidaros there are quarries in which the Naxos marble of the "Alexander" type is quarried. It is a coarse-grained light gray to bluish marble , one of the coarsest in the world. Some of the approximately 400 inhabitants of the village work in the quarries of Greek marble, of which around 5,000 tons are exported annually.

The place is known on Naxos for the quality of its animal products, for its olive groves and vineyards; also for his musicians and dancers, who perform live music in the taverns.

Kinidaros can only be reached from Chalki via the town of Moni or from Melanes on a road.
