The Kinnickinnic River (also known as Kinni ) is a tributary of the St. Croix River in the US state of Wisconsin . It has its source in St. Croix County and flows southwest to River Falls , which is named after a waterfall on this river. After 40 km the river flows into the St. Croix River in Kinnickinnic State Park .
etymology
The name Kinnickinnic comes from the Ojibwe language and denotes a mixture of tobacco and other vegetable materials for smoking.

Characteristics
North of River Falls, the Kinnickinnic River is a slow flowing river in a shallow and sandy bed. Below the village, however, the basin becomes stony and wider, while the sand is deposited again in the river's delta. The point where the Kinnickinnic River joins the St. Croix River is called the Kinnickinnic Narrows .
