Kinord Castle , also known as Loch Kinord Castle , is the ruin of a low castle south of the village of Old Kinord in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire .
history
Kinord Castle is first mentioned in 1335 when parts of the defeated army of David Strathbogie sought refuge there after the Battle of Culblean . The castle is mentioned again in 1505; Alexander Gordon, 3rd Earl of Huntly , used it as a country house in 1511.
In 1646 Kinord Castle was repaired and garrisoned, but razed in 1648 after a parliamentary resolution .
Today only slight traces of the fortifications above ground are visible.
