Kira Roessler (born June 12, 1962 in New Haven ) is an American bassist and works as a sound engineer for film and television productions on dialogue editing .

Life

From 1969 Roessler lived on Curacao or Bonaire for three years . Her father, later the underwater photographer Carl Roessler , worked there as a diving instructor. In 1972 the family moved to Los Angeles . Kira's brother, who later became composer and lyricist Paul Roessler , played keyboard there for one of the city's first punk groups , the Screamers .

Kira Roessler played bass in the Los Angeles area from 1977 in music groups such as Waxx, The Visitors, The Monsters, Sexsick and Twisted Roots. In 1983 she replaced the then bassist of the band Black Flag , Chuck Dukowski . At the end of 1985 she separated from Black Flag and in 1986, together with Mike Watt, founded the two-bass duo Dos , in which she also sings. She married Watt in 1987 and divorced in 1994.

For her work on the dialogue sound of the HBO miniseries John Adams - Freedom for America , she and others received an Emmy in 2008 in the category Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special .
