The Bretwisch Church , also known as the Bretwisch Chapel , is a neo-Gothic church building in the Bretwisch district of the Süderholz community . She belongs to the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District .

On the site of an older church, the Bretvian church was built in 1852 as a neo-Gothic field stone building. The basement of the west tower in front is also made of field stone. The upper floors of the tower as well as the architectural details and the corner pillars with pinnacles are made of brick . An eight-sided pointed helmet closes the tower at the top. The originally rectangular east end was expanded in 1896 to include a polygonal closed east section with a sacristy . The east part has a ribbed vault inside . The beam ceiling of the nave is raised in the middle.

The church has a uniform neo-Gothic interior from the end of the 19th century. The glass windows were made in the second half of the 19th century. The altar painting with the crucifixion of Christ was created by Ernst Hancke in 1864.

The organ with a neo-Gothic prospect was built in 1868 in the workshop of the Stralsund organ builder Friedrich Albert Mehmel .

The churchyard has a brick portal on the east side that is dated around 1500. The portal, surrounded by a wall, with a crenellated crown and a plastered mirror, consists of a pedestrian gate and a basket arched passage.
