Ernst von Haselberg

Ernst von Haselberg (born October 30, 1827 in Stralsund ; † September 1, 1905 there ) was a German architect and construction clerk . From 1857 to 1899 he worked as a city architect in Stralsund's municipal building administration. Together with Hugo Lemcke he wrote one of the two standard works on the monuments of the administrative districts of Stettin and Stralsund.

Life

The eldest son of the later Stralsund government and medical councilor of the same name Ernst von Haselberg studied after attending the Stralsund high school at the Berlin building academy the "higher building subject". On April 28, 1856, after passing the 2nd state examination, he was appointed government builder ( Assessor ). On December 19, 1857, he took over the office of city architect in his hometown on Strelasund . Initially, he only had a technician and a clerk at his disposal.

His work in his hometown was diverse. Here he created the district court in Bielkenhagen street in 1869 and the box house of the Sundia zur Truth in 1879 , school buildings such as Tribseer Straße 12 and in lead street , foundation houses for the Brunst Foundation as well as some of the new buildings at St. Annen and Brigitten monastery in the Schillstrasse . On his initiative, a waterworks was built in the suburb of Lüssow in 1894 to supply Stralsund. Today's medical center on Frankenwall was built from 1862 to 1866 under Haselberg's aegis and was one of the most modern German hospitals in its day. At Stralsund's town hall , von Haselberg was responsible for the renovation of the show facade and for the redesign of the Löwen Hall there from 1881 to 1883.

Ernst von Haselberg had the port expanded and the north pier built, he paved the streets and laid out the sidewalks with granite slabs.

In the vicinity of Stralsund was von Haselberg u. a. responsible for the renovation of St. Mary's Church in Bergen (1896–1902), St. Bartholomew's Church in Damgarten (1884–1887), Pantlitz village church (1876) and Ahrenshagen village church .

He resigned from office on July 1, 1899 at his own request.

The Society for Pomeranian History, Archeology and Art commissioned him in 1875 to create a list of the architectural monuments of the western part of the province of Pomerania . The work of architectural monuments of the Stralsund administrative district ultimately comprised five volumes.

He dealt with the magic hexagon around 1887 .

On September 1, 1905, he died in his hometown and was buried in the Frankenfriedhof . The “Stralsundische Zeitung” reported on September 6, 1905: “With a large participation from all circles of the population, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock the earthly shell of the [...] retired town builder von Haselberg was buried for the last rest. [...] The coffin on the four-horse hearse, which was completely covered with wreaths and donations of flowers, was followed by a large number of victims, including the council in corpore, the civic college and representatives of the royal government [...]. "

As a Freemason, Ernst von Haselberg belonged to the Stralsund lodge “Sundia zur Truth”.
